One permission, explained
Why Screen Recording?
MacFold needs a live view of your desktop to create the folding effect. Those frames stay in memory only long enough to be transformed and displayed locally.
Capture stops when the effect is paused, the built-in display becomes unavailable or the app is closed.

Which MacBooks work?
MacFold requires macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon and access to the MacBook’s lid-angle sensor. Sensor availability varies between models, so Apple silicon alone does not guarantee compatibility. Intel Macs and Windows PCs are not supported.
Why does it need Screen Recording?
The effect works by creating a live, in-memory view of your built-in display and transforming it locally as the lid moves.
Where does the app appear?
MacFold’s downloaded app currently appears as Lid Plane. It runs from the menu bar rather than opening a normal app window or appearing permanently in the Dock.
What if macOS cannot verify the app?
This experimental build is not notarized by Apple. First try opening it normally. If macOS says the developer cannot be verified, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. Never disable Gatekeeper. If macOS specifically reports malware or says the app will damage your computer, stop and contact support.
What happens after I pay?
Polar completes the purchase and sends download access to the email entered at checkout. If the confirmation or download does not arrive, email support.grabkit@gmail.com.
Is this a subscription?
No. It is a one-time purchase.
How is desktop content handled?
Desktop frames are processed locally in memory for the live effect.
Can I uninstall it easily?
Yes. Quit the app from the menu bar and move it from Applications to the Trash. You can also remove its Screen Recording permission in System Settings.
